The Perfect Time

The Perfect Time

As-salam alaikum my beautiful sis!

I hope this meets you in the best of iman and health in sha Allah.

This came at the perfect time. Have you ever found yourself saying that? Or maybe you thought these exact words when you saw this newsletter. But have you ever thought about the gravity of those very words? The realisation that Allah’s timing is just right. Never late, never early, but just at the very moment we need it. It’s as though we’re reminded by Allah through these moments, that His plan is always the best. His planning is flawless.

Sis, there’s one thing though. As human beings, we tend to forget. We know within ourselves that Allah is the best of planners, but then we forget again, and we start doubting His plan. We’re tested with waiting and we forget all the times Allah made us realise that things came just exactly when we needed them. They came as we needed them. They came at the perfect time.

You see, holding on to faith in Allah’s plan is hard. It’s challenging, it really is. Our hearts are like a feather in the wind, one day we have full certainty, and the next day we’re letting doubts seep into it. Holding on to faith in Allah’s plan is a beautiful struggle. It’s a fight against your nafs, shaytan, and all the external noise. Allah sees you when you try to hold on to Him, He sees when you try to hold on to faith in His plan. He sees you when you try to trust that there is a way out because of the One you’ve placed your trust in. Sis, that struggle is beautiful, because deep down your soul recognises the truth - that Allah will never leave you, He only wants good for you, and that Allah is truly the best of planners.

You may be thinking, “When is the perfect time then? When will I get to see what I’ve been waiting for?” The perfect time is Allah’s time, and that knowledge only lies with Him. The perfect time is Allah’s time, because Allah is perfect, everything about Him is. Allah doesn’t give too late, too early, too little, or too much, Allah gives just the right amount at the right time. Everything about Allah’s plan is always perfect and Allah isn’t hasty like we are. Sometimes, we may ruin the very things we’ve begged Allah for if Allah gives it to us when we want. Sometimes, Allah could be preparing us to receive even more than we’ve asked for, preparing us for a blessing that requires preparation. Sometimes, Allah just wants to hear us talk to Him, and what a beautiful honour this is.

My friend once said something absolutely beautiful to me, Allahumma barik laha (may Allah bless her). The gravity of it, the humility in it, the acknowledgment of Allah’s grandeur and our weakness, subhanAllah it was exactly what Allah knew I needed to hear.

She said, “No matter how much I plan, my plan will never be as good as Allah’s”.

I don’t think you understand just how much Allah loves you. And the one who loves someone will never hurt them. Just like a child, we can fail to understand why we have to wait for things or why Allah withholds things from us. But as adults, we know the harm that lies in certain things a child cannot see harm in.

If you feel like the answer to your du'as are being delayed, like you’ve been desperately waiting for it to become a reality, I want you to do two things in sha Allah.

1. Acknowledge and internalise that your du’a is already a reality. Just because you don’t see it with your physical eyes, doesn’t mean it hasn’t already been decreed for you, by the Mercy and Will of Allah. It may not be how you want it, in the way that you expect, but it will always be exactly what you need and how you need it.

2. Say to Allah as many times as you need to, “Ya Rabb, no matter how much I plan, my plan will never be as good as Yours.

Goodness lies in what Allah has decreed, not in things going exactly how we want them. Goodness lies in Allah’s timing, and my dear sis, Allah will give you the most beautiful things, in the most beautiful way, and at the most beautiful time in sha Allah.

Have faith. Have certainty. For Allah knows and you don’t, and Allah will not let any harm come to you. Hold on to Allah, the Handhold that never breaks. Surely, Allah will never let you go.

    With love,

    Latifah.
